I love spending time outside studying the scenery and recording the beauty through sketches in pencil, ink and watercolor. My family is very artistic and I was blessed with a childhood full of making things. I got bogged down with work for many years, but lately have made it a priority to make time for sketching locally and wherever I travel. My Grandpa Ben traveled and sketched on location, leaving us a rich collection of artwork from his adventures. One of my dreams is to find locations that he sketched in Big Sur and to visit and sketch in the same scenes. Every year he gave me art supplies for Christmas and my birthday. He remains a great encouragement to me and I'm honored to carry on his legacy in even a small way. The chicken run in under the pear and apple trees since the chickens provide fertilizer and also eat insects that might damage the pears. It is also located close to the garden so the chickens get some choice overripe or damaged produce.
